[Recs] Tenipuri, HanaKimi, FMA, GW

More for my reference than anything else (since I'm sure most people have probably read these anyway and are more well-read in fandom than I will ever be). I haven't done much serious reading in any fandom for so long especially during the busy hell which is the past year. But I've just read these lately, and they're perfect and I'm like a kid with a shiny new toy. And since I have an LJ now, so, recs (and rambles), why the hell not? I might as well share.


Prince of Tennis
I have long since believed that TezuFuji writers can do no wrong. I'm at awe with the quality of fics this pairing have and I might as well rec them all--go forth and behold the glory that is tezuka/fuji!  (Either that, or I'm just very lucky in searching or choosing what to read.) For years, in PoT, Tezuka and Fuji claimed my heart, wholly and fully, that I can't really read them with others. And in reading fics, more often than not, I always gravitate to those that have something to do with Tezuka and/or Fuji. But after finishing the manga and last of the OAVs just lately. Well... the Power Triangle kind of just happened and Yukimura? ♥♥♥ He's perfect.

Power Triangle
Falling in love with Tezuka/Fuji was no surprise, but enjoying Ryoma with both Tezuka & Fuji really was. Reading the manga, I now can't imagine Ryoma being with anybody else better than with Tezuka and Fuji. He can be with Tezuka or Fuji, all right, but my love for the perfect pair makes me more inclined to love the Power Triangle than choose a leg other than the Tezuka/Fuji one. But the Power Triangle really is too enjoyable to pass up.

Tezuka/Ryoma/Fuji

I would have liked more Tezuka/Fuji in this, but other than that, the awakened Power Triangle fan in me is satisfied. I loved it.

I don't know why I've only gotten hooked with this triangle now, but with these kinds of fic, it's better late than never.

Yukimura Seiichi
Everything not Tezuka and Fuji-related seems to take me by surprise. Yukimura... I just like him. (Sanada not so much, but give me Sanada/Yukimura and I will flail.) Again, he's perfect, just perfect. Can't wait for his match against Sanada in the new manga.

Challenge by Branch
Yagyuu/Niou

I started this hoping to find at least some good Yukimura moments. What I found, instead, was a very good Rikkai fic that made me fall in love with Rikkai (and even Yukimura more). And Yukimura moments were for the win.

Because having two of my favorite characters in one fic is just too hard to resist. I'm not surprised that Yukimura would be my one exception to my Tezuka/Fuji preference.

 

Hana Kimi
I had fallen head over heels in love with Sano/Mizuki when I discovered this just last month, and I now have a het pair that I'm really a fan of. However, sneaky Umeda sneaked into my heart and found his own corner there, and for anyone who knows Hana Kimi knows that where Umeda goes, Akiha will follow.

Obsession (I Love You) by crowdedthoughts

While I fell in love with Akiha/Umeda because of their utter silliness and how that is so in character for them, sometimes, sweetness like this gets me too. (Sweet, as much as Umeda will allow).

It has everything I like about Akiha/Umeda, Akiha's silliness, Umeda's attitude, and a look at a serious side of their relationship.




Fullmetal Alchemist
I was pretty sure I'd go for Roy/Riza if ever I decided to wander into the fandom (didn't think I'd pair Ed up with anyone). But when I did, Roy/Ed just kinda sucked me in. Like Tezuka/Fuji, I didn't have a hard time with this pairing, because it sure has a lot of great fics and great recs list are everywhere. But yeah, this is recs for fics read just lately...

Read this some time ago, but just reread it again and words still fail me. It's as beautiful as beautiful can get. An emotional roller-coaster all throughout.

Gundam Wing
Unlike my other pairings, my pairing of choice (Heero/Quatre) in GW really gives me a hard time (enough so that I chose to write them instead), but there were enough wonderful fics here that made me really enjoy the fandom before when I was still actively searching and reading. Now, I just let the fics come to me, and when they do, it really reminds me what a great fandom GW is. Like these two.

Reverse Psychology by Hades' Phoenix
Gen. Duo

Duo, who doesn't love Duo? And who wouldn't love this Duo, I don't know. The flowing narrative is clever and very much emanates Duo's voice. Some lines are priceless, and just plain funny.

Delay of Game by lukon_idein
Heero/Trowa

Fell in love with the fic and Trowa and the pairing! It's engaging and witty all throughout and Trowa's voice is just so perfect. I found myself laughing one too many times, and I sympathize with Trowa's plight, all right, and Duffy! Oh, Duffy.

On this note:
I've gone through my GW phase years ago before I even started writing it, wherein I just search and read GW fics every single moment possible, because, as I said, there's so much out there to enjoy. But somehow, I'm wracking up my brain for a 1x3 fic that had lodged itself in my memory and nothing comes to mind.

That's funny because, while I don't really mind the pairing, it's one side of a triangle that I want to be able to write someday. Yes, you read that right. I want to be able to write a believable 1x3x4 (after I'm done with my goal of writing enough 1x4 maybe I'll try :P). But 1x3x4 has a soft spot in my heart (enough so that I couldn't resist to give it so tiny a hint in one of my first GW fics, In a Journey's Spire--don't know if anyone noticed though). I just think Trowa would be a perfect balance to Heero/Quatre, and despite the lack of fics in my memory, canon has a good foundation for a 1/3 relationship too.

So I'm finally coming out. Heero/Trowa/Quatre is my deep, dark, secret. ♥

Well, this is a good way of having fics I liked within reach and having a reminder why I liked them. I have no affiliations with these authors or the stories. But really, they're too precious not to share. :)

I can't believe you had Delay of Game on there! It's one of my absolute, 100% FAVORITE fics EVER. And I'm a 3x4 fan! But I just LOVE Trowa's voice in that... I.. I feel the urge to read it AGAIN it was just so GOOD!

And I'm a 1x4 fan! But I really can't help just squee-ing over this fic when I first read it. Trowa's voice is just so ♥ and the whole thing was perfect, and just when I thought I couldn't laugh more, I do! It's even better on the nth read. :)

1x3x4 has always intrigued me, but there are very few fics out there that have that pairing. If you write it, I will read it *wink*

Yeah, 1x3x4 is more like a nagging what-if in the back of my reader's mind, and I don't think there's much out there to really make that what-if into a full-blown shipping. And as for writing, them, it sure is on the maybe or must try sometime list (together with 3x4). :)

Just finished Delay of Game and wrote the author a nice comment. Thanks for sharing! I haven't read much 1x3x1, I think that was the first one I actually sat and read through. Trowa's voice had me cracking up. Brilliant, witty dialogue. Trowa's internal commentary was so much fun to read.

While I'm not that used to the idea, threesomes could be fun when I do find a threesome (or a fic with one) that interests me. ^^
